Cotswold Life Food And Drink Awards 2012 - Cotswold Food Hero

For the third year running Target Catering Equipment are proud to help sponsor the local Gloucestershire, Cotswold Life Food And Drink awards.  Nominations must be in by Friday 13th April.  The celebrations are expected to be an Olympian event as it also marks the 10th aniversary of the awards.

The award ceremony will be held at the prestigious Centaur venue at Cheltenham Race course on Monday 2nd July and will celebrate all that is great about locally produced food and drink.  Headline sponsors Warners Budgens, supporters of local suppliers and producers will once again be seen alongside many other local sponsors supporting their local businesses.

Lunch And Learn - Increasing Efficiency And Profits In The Kitchen

Target Catering Equipment are holding a demonstration day on 20th September 2011.  Learn about the latest energy efficient catering equipment and some secrets for lowering energy usage and increasing profits in the kitchen.

The demonstration kitchen, located at Target's premises in Gloucester, includes the latest energy efficient catering equipment.  Ingredients will be provided for guests to cook, should they wish, which will demonstrate the speed and efficiency of the catering equipment, whilst also providing fresh lunch for all involved.

With the government Climate Change Act 2008 legislation altering the Companies Act 2006, meaning that companies will soon have to start reporting their carbon footprints, there has never been a better time to look into the options that are available to you for reduce yours.

Cotswold Life Food And Drink Awards 2011 - Cotswold Food Hero Winner

Gloucestershire and the Cotswold's food and drink businesses celebrated the prestigious Cotswold Life Food And Drink Awards 2011 at Cheltenham Racecourse's Centaur Centre on July 4th.

Local online television company, Cotswold TV covered the event, as well as interviewing past category winners, including The Kitchen, Minchinhampton and Cotswold 88 Hotel in Painswick.

The awards culminated in the Cotswold Food Hero award, sponsored by Target Catering Equipment and was won by the famous Stinking Bishop cheese creator, food and farming guru Charles Martell of Charles Martell & Son, Dymock, The Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.

The runners up included Prue Leith and Rob Ensor of Ensors of Gloucestershire.

Local Catering Equipment Manufacturer Provides Induction Hobs For Open Day

Hartpury Orchard Centre's Spring Open Day saw Gloucestershire food and drink on show for all to enjoy.

The foodie delights included Gloucester Old Spot sausages and burgers from local producer Helen and John Lightfoot's Pebblesford Herd which is reared in Hartpury.  The sausages and burgers were cooked using plug in, portable induction hobs provided by Target Catering Equipment from Gloucester.

Gloucestershire Chefs Judge District Final of Rotary Young Chef 2011

The District Final of Rotary's Young Chef 2011 competition, held at Marling School, Stroud, Gloucestershire this year, was once again sponsored by Target Catering Equipment.

Prizes, which included a set of professional quality Raymond Blanc saucepans for the winner, Raymond Blanc frypan set for the runner up and Meyer professional frypans for the best starter, best main course, and best dessert.

Judges Terry Woodcock of Hatherley Manor Hotel, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, Michael Croft of Calcot Manor Hotel, Tetbury, Gloucestershire and Martin Christopher of Duchy Catering Ltd, Schlumberger, Gloucestershire, awarded first prize to 14 year old Sophie Piccirilli of Wyedean School, Chepstow, Gloicestershire.

Winner Sophie Piccirilli from Wyedean School, Chepstow, Gloucestershire, with her menu including:

Starter: Hand made spinach and ricotta ravioli

Main Course: Cod loin stuffed with her own pesto recipe, wrapped in pancetta - oven baked with tomatoes and black olives, accompanied by a gratin dauphinois

Desert: Lemon mousse with a twist

Runner up was Danny Bridgeman from Cirencester Kingshil School, Gloucestershire, with his menu consisting of:

Starter: Butternut squash ravioli with a chilli and rosemary dressing

Main Course: Chicken breast with apple tart tatin, spinach and carrots - followed by

Dessert: Chocolate cheesecake with chocolate sauce.

Parents and food technology teachers watched proudly on as all the students produced outstanding food showing great culinary skills in this high pressure, competitive event.

Michael Croft commented that the ingenuity and new ideas he had seen created by the competitors would not be out of place in professional restaurants.

It was a real credit to students, teachers, parents and Rotary Club members who give their time and support this competition each year.

The Regional National Final will be held in Builth Wells on April 9th with the Grand Final being held in Stratford Upon Avon this year, the winner of which will receive a cheque for £250, win an amazing trip for two to Tuscany to visit Filippo Berio's olive grove "La Traversagna" and sample the delights of Italian cuisine plus a day with Michelin-starred Chef Phil Thompson at Augberge du Lac set in the magnificent parkland of Brocket Hall in Hertfordshire.

Rotary Young Chef Competition 2011 - Gloucester District 1100

Target Catering Equipment is again sponsoring Gloucester's Rotary District 1100 Young Chef competition, and recently helped judge the heat held at Barnwood Park School.

The judges unanimously awarded the first prize to Hina Kapadia for her amazing Indian food prepared with skill and dexterity.  She is now through to the next round.

The overall standard of food prepared by all the pupils was exceptional and it was a shame that there could only be one winner.
